What does perfect health look like to you?
Maybe it’s clarity of mind. Maybe it’s freedom of movement. Maybe it’s balance, or harmony, or being comfortable in your own skin. Maybe it’s all of those things, and more.
When it comes to health, there are two things I know:
- You can’t reduce it to one thing. As a person, you are made up of body, mind, and spirit. True, wellness encompasses all three, and is built on nourishing the whole person.
- There’s no cookie-cutter definition. Each person is unique, so health isn’t achieved by meeting some generic standard, but by unfolding the truth that’s already in you.
My Story
My journey to holistic health and wellness started when I was 12. I was a horse enthusiast, but debilitating back pain made riding and competing extremely difficult. Conventionally-trained orthopedists all told me the same thing — I had to stop riding and wear a back brace.
A year and a half of wearing the back brace only made things worse, so my parents and I sought alternative care through strength training and chiropractic. Within three months, I was back riding with little to no pain, and I never had to wear that awful brace again.
It was then that I began to feel my calling to help people and animals discover their health and harmony, but I didn’t completely understand it at first.
Not yet ready to veer from a more traditional path, I went from one stressful sales job to another. As a result, I chased debilitating symptoms and misdiagnoses, dragging myself through my life rather than living. Desperate for relief, I turned my health over to every practitioner I could find along the way, but without lasting change.
That’s when I finally I recognized what I’d been missing in my approach to my health — my own internal strength and healing powers. It was only when I accepted my calling as a healer — the one that first knocked on my door at age 12 — that I found a sustainable and enduring recipe for my health and wholeness.
Ancient wisdom says that the sickest person in the village is the one who will become the next healer. For me that meant the universe would continue to challenge my health until I said “yes” to my calling to help others.
I’m now a certified yoga instructor, lymphatic enhancement practitioner, and health and lifestyle coach with an emphasis in nutrition as the foundation for my coaching model. My practice focuses on helping people discover and become their own inner healer.
My Training
I graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I learned innovative coaching methods, practical lifestyle management techniques, and over 100 dietary theories – Ayurveda, gluten-free, Paleo, raw, vegan, macrobiotics, and everything in between.
